MacMillan Neuroendocrine (NET) & Neuro Oncology Advanced CNS
Job Summary: The NET/Neuro CNS is a key worker role and an autonomous practitioner with freedom to influence patient care and service provision. They will exercise levels of judgment, discretion and decision‑making. Independent nurse prescribing responsibilities support this practice. The post holder will ensure high‑quality, clinically effective care, prioritising and utilizing research in everyday practice. When seeing patients with complex cancer care needs, the post holder must recognise that they are not the primary carer but must equip the primary carer with the required skills and knowledge. Promotion of best practice proactively and delivery of coordinated quality cancer care to patients and families. Work across organisations and professional boundaries to promote integrated care management.
Main Duties
* Promote effective communication within the multidisciplinary team and develop strong partnerships.
* Serve as a role model providing mentorship or clinical supervision.
* Actively contribute to developing multidisciplinary relationships and the MDT discussion.
* Communicate complex information about specific clinical conditions to patients and carers, empowering them to be equal partners in care decisions.
* Manage complex and sensitive situations using effective communication and negotiation skills.
* Understand group development and intervene to optimise team working.
* Support the development of specialist knowledge and skills for all staff, identify learning needs, and plan, implement and evaluate education programmes.
* Provide and receive complex information regarding the planning of care, advising others about care.
* Maintain detailed records of care in line with local and national guidelines.
