Job Description
Location: Bristol (hybrid working)
Are you a driven and experienced engineering professional ready to take a pivotal role in one of Europe’s most significant nuclear projects? We are looking for a Senior Commissioning Engineer to join our expert team delivering the Hinkley Point C (HPC) Nuclear Island project.
The Opportunity
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.
In particular, EDF EPR Engineering UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK.
Pay, benefits and culture
Alongside a competitive salary of £65,000- £70,000, bonus and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.
We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.
What you’ll be doing
As a Senior Commissioning Engineer, you’ll lead and coordinate commissioning activities across the Fluid systems and Overall commissioning discipline. Your responsibilities will span from the production of essential commissioning documentation and schedules to team leadership and strategic interface management. You’ll also support on-site testing and technical reviews and drive innovation through digital transformation and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
You’ll:
Lead technical and quality coordination across the Fluid/Overall commissioning scope.
Deliver commissioning documentation aligned with HPC project requirements.
Manage schedules, budgets, and performance for the Fluid/Overall team.
Review and validate documentation, ensuring alignment with functional requirements.
Support NNB on testing strategies and system preparation activities.
Collaborate across design, electrical, I&C, HVAC, configuration, and construction teams.
Drive digital transformation and support knowledge transfer within EPR-E.
Who you are
You’ll be an experienced engineer, ideally with knowledge of the nuclear sector, otherwise on large-scale, multi-disciplinary projects. A solid grasp of systems engineering principles is essential, and familiarity with EPR design and the UK nuclear regulatory environment would be an advantage.
Overall, you’re a strategic thinker and a natural communicator who thrives in collaborative, cross-functional environments. You’re not just a technical expert – you’re a leader, mentor, and problem-solver, ready to shape the future of clean energy.
