Overview
As an Engineering Project Lead, you will guide a small team of engineers and project professionals delivering outputs that sustain the UK’s in‑service submarine fleet. This role supports national defence by extending the life of critical assets and accelerating growth in Defence, Aerospace and Engineering.
Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of engineering and project outputs that underpin the VACAS programme for in‑service submarines.
* Act as the primary project and technical contact for your team and any subcontractors.
* Administer the customer interface with the MoD for Babcock’s VACAS contribution.
* Manage contractual aspects and ensure compliance with internal business requirements.
* Coordinate stakeholders to keep plans, risks and deliverables on track across a complex engineering environment.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
* Project management and leadership in a complex technical engineering environment.
* Proven experience leading and motivating teams.
* Strong stakeholder management and customer‑facing skills.
* Knowledge of project management best practice and governance.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
* A degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or a related discipline, or significant relevant experience in place of formal qualifications.
* Project Management qualification at APMP level or above is desirable but not essential.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a UK national who can achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Many positions within Babcock are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions; eligibility may be affected by nationality, residence or citizenship.
