Quality and Governance Lead - Urgent Treatment Centres
Join the role at NHS in Leeds. This part‑time position (16 hours per week with flex and potential additional clinical shifts) will lead quality and governance across our Urgent Treatment Centres.
Job Summary
The Lead will provide clinical leadership, supervise minor injuries clinicians, drive quality improvement, develop care pathways and maintain clinical governance to exceed CQC standards. They must have at least 2 years' clinical experience in minor injuries, X‑ray interpretation and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership and supervision to minor injuries clinicians, including induction, continuous professional development, mentoring and supporting the revalidation process.
* Champion quality improvement through clinical audits, performance monitoring and implementing strategies to exceed CQC standards.
* Work closely with clinical services managers, external partners and system partners to develop and refine care pathways.
* Maintain clinical expertise: independent assessment, diagnosis, X‑ray interpretation and management of treatment plans.
* Promote a Just Culture, addressing concerns, complaints, incidents proactively and ensuring learning from feedback.
* Lead clinical supervision for practitioners in Wharfedale and St George’s UTCs, including induction, probation reviews and PDR process support.
* Support recruitment, staff qualifications and checks; ensure appropriate indemnity and DBS levels (Enhanced with Child/Adult Barring).
* Develop and deliver training, infection prevention & control policies, safeguarding measures and personal development plans.
* Represent LCD at internal and external meetings, fostering effective cross‑functional working and communication.
* Ensure financial and resource management for the UTC workforce, maintaining budgets and best value for money.
* Maintain confidentiality, information governance protocols and uphold safeguarding policies for vulnerable adults and children.
* Facilitate continued professional development, ensuring mandatory training and time management skills are met.
Key Qualifications
* NMC Registered General Nurse/HCPC or IHCD Paramedic with a BSc in Paramedic studies or equivalent.
* Minor injuries qualification, minimum level 6.
* X‑ray interpretation qualification.
* Valid current driving licence.
* Independent prescriber qualification (desirable).
* Minor illness qualification, minimum level 6 (desirable).
* Experience with Patient Group Directives and independent prescribing legislation.
Experience
* Minimum 2 years in minor injuries practice and X‑ray interpretation.
* Experience supervising learners in practice and leading clinical audit.
* Knowledge of same‑day urgent and emergency care services and KPI’s for urgent treatment centres.
* Data analysis, interpretation and reporting skills (desirable).
* Experience with improvement of patient safety and experience (desirable).
