Key Responsibilities

* Lead, coordinate, and continuously develop SEN support across the nursery in line with the Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycle
* Act as the nursery’s SEN lead, ensuring inclusive practice is embedded throughout the setting
* Support, mentor, and advise staff to build confidence and consistency in delivering effective SEN strategies
* Work closely with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure children’s individual needs are fully understood and met
* Maintain accurate SEN documentation and contribute to Ofsted readiness and inspections
* Ensure safeguarding, health, and safety standards are always upheld in line with statutory requirements

Requirements

* SENCO qualification or equivalent experience supporting SEN within an Early Years / EYFS setting
* Strong working knowledge of the EYFS framework, SEND Code of Practice, and safeguarding procedures
* Proven experience supporting children aged 0–5 with a range of additional needs
* Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills
* A compassionate, child-focused approach with a commitment to inclusive practice

Desirable

* Experience liaising with external agencies and/or local authority SEN services
* Knowledge of therapies such as Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy
* Previous experience contributing to SEN funding applications or EHCP processes

What’s on Offer

* Competitive salary (dependent on experience)
* Supportive leadership team and positive working environment
* Ongoing CPD and professional development opportunities
* The chance to make a meaningful difference in a high-quality early years setting

If you are an experienced Early Years SENCO looking to take the next step in a rewarding role, we would love to hear from you.
