Clinical Support Worker Higher Level (HCA) Lymphoedema role at Louder Than Words.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to the planning, monitoring, and evaluating of patient centred care. Report back to the registered nurse and escalate concerns as required.
* Following a Registered Nurse or Assistant Practitioner’s assessment of need, implement a planned programme of care with the support of a Registered Nurse.
* Act as a role model for all staff and students, demonstrating clinical skills and high standards of practice and professional conduct.
* Take responsibility for your own personal and professional development, maintain competence, knowledge, and skills commensurate with the role.
* Participate in Reflective Practice, Practice Supervision and Appraisals and line management supervision as per policy.
* Take a flexible approach to supporting colleagues in times of caseload pressures, including working with colleagues to maintain support across the teams with the resources available.
* Administration: maintain accurate records which are confidential, contemporaneous, and legible; ensure records are up to date and aligned with Livewell Southwest policies; participate in standard of patient records by audit or peer review; ensure recordings are complete and available to the appropriate clinician.
* Make appropriate records in the multi-disciplinary patient file and/or electronic records, which may be required to be counter-signed by a registered nurse; complete on time and submit all necessary forms and IT data; comply with GDPR, Access to Health Records and Consent for Treatment.
* Organise own time management daily in line with caseload demands, using initiative and flexibility to respond to service needs; organise hospital records on delivery to ensure availability to the correct clinician; use appropriate clinical systems to track and trace and return when completed.
Specialist Knowledge
* Lymphoedema knowledge and competencies, including education both formal sessions and informal.
* To support with the treatment of patients with Lymphoedema and promote emotional wellbeing through supporting patients and families.
* Palliative treatment related to Cancer Secondary Lymphoedemas; Primary Lymphoedemas; Lipoedemas; Complex Lymphovenous oedema not responding to treatment.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience and/or training related to Lymphoedema care (as described in the responsibilities above).
* Ability to educate other healthcare professionals; ability to work collaboratively with Lymphoedema Specialist Nurses.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills; commitment to patient-centred care and professional conduct.
