Job Description
Job Title: Senior Design Research Lead (12-Month FTC)
Location: Manchester / Halifax / Chester
Salary: £76,194 - £89,640
Hours: Full-Time
Duration: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time in the office.

We’ll encourage you to test and learn new ways of doing research and foster a culture of mentoring, collaborating, and learning from other researchers.
Working in a multi-disciplinary design, product, and engineering team, you’ll develop and lead the research strategy for a key area of our business. You’ll also be supported by our wider Design Research and Analytics community. You’ll be responsible for managing the research plan and roadmap for your service or product area. You’ll deliver research to solve customer problems, unlock new opportunities, and guide what is created. You’ll enjoy working on varied research across the product development lifecycle, from generative to evaluative research.
What you’ll need
* Extensive design research expertise, including a strong practical understanding of when and how to apply a broad range of research techniques.
* Strong stakeholder management skills - working closely with various teams to understand business objectives and address their hypotheses with detailed research proposals and plans.
* Able to identify the most important and relevant insights from research, and confident to convey those in an influential manner. Experience will allow you to lead by example in advocating for good research practices across your wider team.
* Able to lead the strategic insight agenda in your domain, designing research studies that help to understand future customer needs and proactively ensuring designers have the right insights to inform their approaches.
* Strong project management capabilities, adaptable and able to supervise and deliver multiple projects at the same time.
* Able to work with data analysts to demonstrate both quantitative and qualitative insights to help teams make more customer-centred decisions.
* Experience with quantitative design research methods.
* Knowledge of and experience being an advocate for accessibility and inclusive design.
* Experience leading a team of researchers – including task management, mentoring, and support.
