Overview
We are seeking a Strain Gauge Bonding Technician to support our Micro-Measurements team. The purpose of the role is to support the production of custom specialist strain gauge transducers and installations both in-house and field based.

Key Responsibilities
* To develop and attain a comprehensive knowledge of good working practices in strain gauging processes
* Carry out all aspects of Strain Gauge bonding including surface preparation, position layout, gauge handling, clamping and curing on various substrate materials
* Carry out all aspects of Strain Gauge wiring including soldering, wire and cable preparation, and bridge balance and temperature compensation
* Proficient in the use of various coating materials and preparation of connector and loom assemblies
* Carry out various assembled work including bearing fitting, attaching printed circuit boards, spot welding and component assembly
* To read and understand basic job instruction cards
* Able to read and understand basic and complex customer supplied engineering drawings, including CAD
* Calibration/Test and preparation of test results sheets and associated data
* Develop a good knowledge of production department processes and procedures – Also Quality Assurance Procedures
* Carry out inspection of own work and that of other colleagues to ensure the highest standards and quality are achieved in line with company targets
* Follow good practices in health and safety and to maintain good housekeeping at all times
* To work in a professional manner to promote a good working environment for all staff, visitors and customers
* To undertake within, reason, any other tasks as requested by a Manager or Director of the business
Requirements
* Previous experience with strain gauge installations, or experience working with strain gauges
* BSSM Level 1/2 and/or IPC 610 soldering certifications are desirable but not essential
* Soldering and wiring experience
* Capacity for reading and understanding engineering drawings
* High level of attention to detail
* Ability to work under pressure
* Creative thinking and problem solving
