Contract – secondment for 12 months (maternity cover). Full time 37.5 hours per week (Mon‑Fri). Salary £39,959 – £48,117 per annum (pro‑rata). Closing 01/05/2026.
Job overview
We are looking for an Epilepsy Specialist Nurse to join our dedicated team in the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role offers specialist training and the opportunity to develop clinical expertise across a large geographical area, working in both inpatient and community settings.
Main duties
* Provide specialist clinical advice, support and education to patients, families and carers.
* Undertake nurse‑led clinics, telephone reviews and care coordination.
* Support safe and effective treatment plans, including medication optimisation.
* Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
* Deliver staff training and promote best practice in epilepsy management.
* Act as an advocate for patients living with epilepsy, supporting self‑management and independence.
This role is ideal for nurses with a genuine interest in neurology and long‑term condition management, excellent communication skills and a passion for improving patient experience.

Person specification – Qualifications & Education
* Appropriate NMC registration
* Diploma in Nursing
* Degree in a health‑related subject
* Clinical Examination Qualification
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience in and knowledge of Neurology, Medicine and Epilepsy
* Knowledge of Clinical Governance and its implementation
* Evidence of clinical competence in the area of speciality
* Knowledge of local/national Health and Social Care policy
* Previous experience of managing complex neurology patients
* Experience in nurse‑led clinics
* Experience of audit and research
* Awareness of current relevant national service frameworks and guidance
