Role Overview
We are looking for flexible and enthusiastic individuals to join our supply network, supporting teaching and learning in schools across Somerset. Roles are available for:
* Qualified Teachers (QTS) – primary, secondary, or SEN.
* Unqualified Teachers / Trainee Teachers / ECTs – delivering lessons under supervision.
* Teaching Support Roles – Teaching Assistants (TAs), Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs), and Cover Supervisors.
Successful candidates will provide high-quality learning experiences, support pupil progress, and maintain a safe and positive classroom environment, adapting to different schools and student needs.
Key Responsibilities
For Qualified / Unqualified Teachers:
* Deliver lessons according to school plans and curriculum requirements.
* Maintain classroom discipline and a positive learning environment.
* Adapt lessons and teaching strategies for different ability levels.
* Assess pupil progress and provide feedback.
* Communicate effectively with school staff regarding pupil needs and classroom updates.
For Teaching Support Roles (TAs / HLTA / Cover Supervisors):
* Support pupils in class, including small group or one-to-one support.
* Assist teachers in delivering lesson plans.
* Supervise classes under guidance (Cover Supervisors).
* Support SEN pupils and implement intervention programs.
* Maintain accurate records of pupil performance and behavior.
All Roles
* Follow safeguarding policies and maintain professional standards.
* Be adaptable to different school settings, age groups, and subjects.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Teachers (Qualified / Unqualified):
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred, but unqualified or trainee teachers may be considered.
* Enhanced DBS check (Update Service recommended).
* Strong classroom management and communication skills.
* Flexibility to work across multiple schools and age groups.
Teaching Support Staff (TAs / HLTA / Cover Supervisors)
* Experience supporting pupils in a school setting preferred.
* Understanding of the National Curriculum and basic teaching strategies.
* Patience, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills.
Desirable Skills
* Experience in primary, secondary, or SEN settings.
* Ability to deliver specific subjects (Maths, English, Science).
* Experience with interventions, pastoral care, or behavioral support.
* Positive, flexible, and proactive approach to working in different schools.
