Overview
Manchester Adult Education has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivating Maths Lecturer to join our team. The role will involve the planning, delivery and assessment of part-time adult courses.
Courses Covered
* Functional Skills/Awards (Entry Level to Level 2)
* GCSE/Higher
* Booster / Support classes
* Delivering functional skills for ESOL learners
Key Responsibilities
* Teach online lessons where appropriate, as well as teaching in our centres across the city as needed, including evening classes.
* Join a committed and supportive team of teachers who are passionate industry specialists working together to support adult learners in the community to attain their goals.
* Deliver teaching and learning to at least a consistently good or outstanding standard.
* Assess learners and work accurately against appropriate awarding body criteria/key course targets to ensure learners achieve their qualifications/course goals.
* Comply with safeguarding procedures.
* Taken course leadership responsibilities where applicable.
* Take part in team meetings and working groups.
* Ensure close liaison and good communications with other staff concerning learners.
* Comply with service quality assurance procedures.
* Comply with service policies and procedures, including maintaining records on learners such as attendance and achievement.
* Take personal and professional responsibility for keeping up to date in the subject area and administrative processes.
* Positively represent the MAES both internally and externally at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
* Professional and academic competence/qualifications to teach on the courses.
* Experience of adopting a range of teaching and learning strategies both face-to-face and online.
* Use of e-learning platforms such as Google Classroom and others (e.g. BKSB) or willingness to learn.
* Commitment to professional development.
* Flexible approach, excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to engage and develop adult learners, and role model the attributes we develop within our learners.
* Hold GCSE A* - C / 9 - 4 in English (essential).
* Hold GCSE A* - C / 9 - 4 in Maths (essential).
* Hold a teaching qualification, ideally to Level 5 (subject specialism) or willingness to work towards it.
* Teaching experience with adult learners and a track record of delivering Maths courses at varying skill levels, including learners with additional needs.
