Psychology Graduate Mental Health Assistant

Location: Ampthill

Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term

Start Date: September 2025

Salary: £460-£500 per week

As a Psychology graduate Mental Health Assistant, you'll be based in a well-resourced, specialist SEN school in Ampthill that supports children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, Autism, and behavioural challenges. Working closely with an on-site multi-disciplinary clinical and education team, you'll gain essential, hands-on experience that bridges the gap between academic study and professional practice.

What You'll Be Doing

* Delivering tailored 1:1 and small group interventions
* Supporting children in managing emotional regulation and behaviour
* Collaborating with SEN teachers, therapists, and educational psychologists
* Contributing to personalised education and therapy plans
* Developing trusting, therapeutic relationships with pupils
* Using trauma-informed approaches to make a lasting impact
* Career Progression - Pathway into Clinical, Education, or Therapeutic Roles

The Psychology Graduate Mental Health Assistant is a stepping stone into a wide range of careers within the mental health, education and training sectors. Many previous graduates in this position have progressed into roles such as:

* Assistant Psychologist or Mental Health Practitioner
* Clinical or Educational Psychologist (via further study and training)
