About the Role:
Everest (re Syndicate 2786) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Syndicate Accountant to join our team as a contractor. This role will sit in the Syndicate Accounting team and assist the team in their responsibility for ensuring the accurate and timely completion of syndicate group and regulatory reporting requirements, including those of the related legal entities (the Service Company, Corporate Member and, once approved, the Managing Agent). The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Lloyd's syndicate operations, regulatory reporting, and financial accounting and control principles.
Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
* Assist in the general ledger close of the Syndicate and related legal entities for Group reporting under US GAAP and local reporting under UK GAAP, including transactional processing (invoices, bank and inter-company activity) and general ledger journal posting (manual and interfaced).
* Identify opportunities to improve existing accounting and reporting processes. Implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
* Maintain, and strengthen where required, controls over the general ledger account balances, including accurate recording of balances between years of account and classes of business, timely reconciliation of bank accounts, technical accounts and other balance sheet accounts.
* Support the Everest Managing Agency project – building out the reporting capabilities in the run up to go-live, provide ad-hoc support to the Syndicate Finance Reporting team during the transition of reporting activities from the outgoing managing agent.
* Liaise with other departments (e.g. IT, Underwriting, Claims, Credit Control and Reinsurance) as required to support change activities and financial processes.
* Assist with the implementation of the XLPro interface of the Syndicate’s ceded results into the general ledger, including the creation and running of controls and the posting of assumed results into the ledger of Group affiliate reinsurers. Assist with other ad-hoc projects as required.
* Support the analysis, planning and reporting activities of other Finance departments (FP&A, tax, actuarial and reporting), Treasury and Group head office.
* Engage in the audit of the syndicate and related entities including liaison with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation, analysis and explanations as required.
* Provide support to other members of the finance and syndicate reporting teams.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
* Excellent knowledge of the Lloyd’s market, including the Xchanging and LCA processes.
* Knowledge and understanding of the financial and regulatory landscape, core market returns (CMR), market data collection (MDC) and reporting forms required by Lloyd’s (and FCA/PRA where equivalent).
* Experience of working with underwriting and claims teams along with the policy and claims administration systems used.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Good communication skills, ability to interact at all levels.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Experience with Oracle ERP. PeopleSoft is a plus.
