Teaching Personnel are seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a well-respected secondary school in Portsmouth. This full-time role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on classroom experience or explore a future career in teaching. In this position, you will supervise classes of students aged 11–16 in the absence of their regular teachers, ensuring that learning continues effectively. You will deliver pre-prepared lessons, maintain a calm and focused classroom environment, and support students across a variety of subjects. The role may also involve providing additional assistance to pupils with special educational needs (SEN), helping them engage with lessons and fully participate in classroom activities. You will manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies, keep students motivated and on task, and provide feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil progress and conduct. The ideal candidate will have experience working with secondary-aged pupils, with some familiarity in supporting SEN students being advantageous. Confidence in managing classrooms, the ability to adapt quickly to different situations, and strong skills in building positive relationships with students are essential. A proactive approach, patience, and genuine enthusiasm for supporting young people’s learning are highly valued. This position offers a full-time contract with an immediate start and competitive daily rates between £95 and £120.
