The Principal Cyber Security Specialist will work within the Innovation and Digital Service at Cornwall Council, in the Information Services team. The team develops, monitors, operates, and supports cyber security solutions to protect the organisation's digital assets and systems. The team reports to the Head of Information Services and includes Cyber Security Analysts, Cyber Security Specialists, and a Cyber Security Manager.
Responsibilities
 * Lead and innovate as a senior technical cybersecurity expert; develop strategic and tactical cyber security roadmaps.
 * Manage specialist teams in building, managing, and supporting cutting-edge cyber security solutions.
 * Collaborate with technical architects to integrate core security principles into architectural designs.
 * Manage operational relationships with suppliers; contribute to customer requirements discovery.
 * Support ongoing development of cyber security infrastructure, products, and services.
 * Provide specialist technical support for incidents, problems, and changes; ensure compliance with industry best practices and organisational standards.
 * Assume financial accountability for complex infrastructure products and manage multidisciplinary teams.
 * Drive continual service improvement and mentor team members to achieve business outcomes.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

 * Ability to explain cyber security concepts clearly to senior directors across business functions; adaptable to challenging problems.
 * Ownership, initiative, and skills in information security management, security architecture, and technical specialization.
 * Proficiency in security testing and user-focused design; strong troubleshooting and problem-resolution abilities.
 * High personal integrity and ability to review designs of complex systems.
