Senior Civil Engineer

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of an independently owned engineering consultancy based in Nottingham. The business delivers a wide range of civil and structural engineering projects, including public realm improvements, highways and junction upgrades, active travel schemes, residential developments, and commercial and industrial projects. With a diverse client base spanning private developers, contractors, local authorities, and other organisations, the team offers a collaborative and supportive environment focused on professional growth.
The role:
• Lead and manage the delivery of multiple civil engineering projects from early design through to construction
• Produce and review designs including drainage, levels, earthworks, and external works
• Deliver highway design packages in line with local authority requirements
• Mentor and support junior engineers, ensuring high-quality technical output
• Manage project programmes, priorities, and client expectations
• Support commercial aspects of projects including fee proposals and budget tracking
• Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants across multidisciplinary projects
• Act as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders
The ideal candidate:
• Strong experience in civil engineering design within a consultancy environment
• Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, and similar tools
• Solid understanding of UK design standards and guidance (including highways and drainage)
• Experience working with agreements such as S278, S38, S104, and S106
• Ability to lead projects, manage workload, and work both independently and within a team
• Strong communication and organisational skills
