Job Description:
Your responsibilities:
1. Liaising with managers and technical staff to analyze the information technology infrastructure needs of the organization
2. looking at data such as network traffic to determine the capacity and speed required
3. designing the network structure and presenting this to management
4. identifying the hardware required, such as Routers and Switches
5. identifying the software required, such as network drivers and Firewalls
6. working out a data migration plan, if designing a new network to replace an existing one
7. working with the technical team carrying out the installation
8. developing technical documentation
9. keeping up to date with new hardware and software technology.
10. Advanced understanding of technical architecture design
11. Maintaining Routers and Switches
12. Managing Firewall installation and ongoing monitoring
13. In-depth knowledge of network security principles and cybersecurity protocols
14. Knowledge of load balancers and how best to apply them
15. Experience with technical support
16. Understanding of virtual private networks (VPNs)
17. Experience with domain name system (DNS)
18. Knowledge of network frameworks and the impacts of using different types
19. Transmission control protocol/Internet protocol (TCP/IP) best practices
20. Understanding of IPv6
21. Experience with network segmentation
22. General understanding of software development and its impact on networking demands
23. A foundational understanding of operating systems and how those affect the network design
24. Experience with network infrastructure
25. Proven track record of network hardware installation and configuration.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
26. Designing and building data communication networks.
27. The networks they work on can range from smaller local area networks (LANs) to larger wide area networks (WANs), along with intranets.
28. Manage all of the resources including third party service providers in the provision of operational management and control of CNI SCADA and CNI networks, ensuring that they are fully resilient, safe and secure.
29. Work with IS, the business and all third party stakeholders to ensure that any changes to the networks and associated hardware are not going to affect the safe operational control of the networks.
30. Work with Audit, Security and any other outside Government organizations to ensure that the support operations are compliant with policies and standards expected of critical CNI networks.
31. Participation in the management of incidents on CNI networks ensuring that resilience is brought back into operations a quickly as possible. Lead root cause analysis investigations to ensure that learning is fed back to prevent reoccurrence.
32. Responsibility for annual budget and track actuals against an approved budget plan. Ensure that disaster recovery plans are in place and tested appropriately
