Overview
As an Associate Field Engineer, you will support the delivery of high-quality technical solutions across one or more technology domains. Day-to-day, under the guidance of senior engineers and architects, you'll contribute to operational tasks, documentation, and service improvements while developing your technical and professional capabilities.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the implementation and maintenance of enterprise-grade solutions under the guidance of senior engineers
* Perform basic troubleshooting and escalate complex issues appropriately
* Support day-to-day operational tasks, including monitoring and routine maintenance
* Contribute to the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles
* Support the collection and reporting of operational metrics and service performance data
* Follow established security, performance, and operational standards
Qualifications & Skills
* Foundational understanding of one or more technology domains (e.g., Infrastructure, Networking, Cloud, End User Computing)
* Awareness of ITIL principles and basic service management concepts
* Exposure to scripting or automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash)
* Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work as part of a team
* Some experience in technical roles, such as internships, placements, or academic projects within IT or engineering environments
* Exposure to enterprise systems, infrastructure, or support practices
* Degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
* Working towards or holding relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, AWS)
* Full and Clean UK Driving License

We are seeking candidates for a role based at Malvern. This role is 37 hours per week with travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites expected. The Malvern facility focuses on electronic warfare, surveillance, and complex system integration, contributing to the UK's defence capabilities. We develop technologies for military and civilian applications, including sensors, communications and cyber security.
