Overview
We are recruiting for Locum Consultant Interventional Radiologist who share our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
Applications are invited for an Interventional Radiologist post. The appointees will be required to contribute to the general workload of the Interventional Radiology department. The posts are whole time 10 PA and the appointees will be expected to participate in the Interventional Radiology on-call rota, one week in 5.

Responsibilities
* Contribute to the general workload of the Interventional Radiology department.
* Participate in the Interventional Radiology on-call rota (one week in 5).
* Assist in delivering a broad Interventional Radiology service in a multi-disciplinary environment with associated services (Urology, Oncology, Obstetrics, Gynaecology and vascular teams).
* Work within a formal job plan agreed with the Clinical Director, covering clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities.
* Provide on-call and cross-sectional imaging support as part of a wider radiology rota (General Radiology duties).
* Support development of specialist pathways and procedures within Interventional Radiology.
Accountability and Job Plan
A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and the Clinical Director (Dr V. Ganesh), on behalf of the Divisional Director, three months after commencement, signed by the Chief Executive, and effective from the commencement date.
The indicative job plan includes on call (1 PA), 7.5 DCC and 1.5 SPA. The job plan will be a prospective agreement detailing duties, responsibilities and objectives for the coming year, including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities, with a clear schedule of commitments and personal objectives.
Programmed Activities and Flexibility
This is a 10 PA post which can be increased to 11 PA or 12 PA if the post holder wishes. There is an expectation that fixed sessions of clinical activity will change between job plans to meet department needs. Flexibility is required to cover leave and unexpected workloads.
Interventional Radiology On Call
Interventional Radiology On Call is rostered as a whole week at a time at a frequency of 1 week in 5. There are four other Consultant Radiologists on the on-call rota, so swapping on calls is often an option.
Qualifications
* Fellowship from the Royal College of Radiologists is essential.
Department and Resources
The Interventional Radiology Department serves inpatients and outpatients referred from all specialties, and provides IR support to neighbouring Trusts. It acts as a spoke centre to the Vascular Hub based in Kent and Canterbury Hospital, performing outpatient vascular procedures. The department includes a diverse workforce and supports role extension with Reporting Radiographers in Plain Film, CT, Breast and MRI, with a dedicated Ultrasound team and ongoing professional development.

The department supports a range of procedures including:
* Radiofrequency Ablation of renal tumours
* Prostate embolisations
* Pulmonary Embolism/Deep Vein Thrombosis thrombolysis
* Post Partum Haemorrhage embolisation
* Thyroid ablation
* Uterine fibroid embolisations
Team and Support
Ultrasound has a dedicated team of 8 Sonographers, with a Sonographer Led Neck biopsy service. The Interventional Suite is supported by a team of nine nurses and seven Radiographers who participate in the on-call rota. Nuclear Medicine has a team of 5 nurses. All staff have on-site training and operate alongside Radiologists.
