Location: Garstang | Pay: £12.37 (non-qualified) – £13.50/hr (qualified) + £60 sleep‑in | Shifts: 2 on / 4 off
About the Role
As a Residential Child Care Worker, you’ll be a vital part of a supportive, dedicated team, creating a safe, loving, and stable home for young people aged 8–17. You’ll build strong, trusting relationships, support their emotional, physical and practical needs every day, and work closely with professionals and agencies to ensure each child feels safe, valued and empowered to thrive. This role requires resilience, compassion and a passion for making a difference in the lives of young people with complex backgrounds, including those with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties, high‑risk challenging behaviour, and learning or behavioural challenges.
Key Responsibilities
* Create and maintain a caring, structured environment for young people.
* Deliver individual and group support, including emotional and practical assistance.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers, educators and healthcare professionals.
* Prepare and implement development plans in line with therapeutic goals.
* Maintain accurate records and report on the progress and wellbeing of residents.
* Adhere to safeguarding policies and promote a safe, respectful culture.
Requirements and Qualifications
* 6–12 months experience within a Children’s Residential Setting.
* Level 3/4 qualification in a relevant field (or willingness to undertake training).
* Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine caring heart.
* Ability to remain calm and supportive under challenging conditions.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Desired Criteria
* Driver’s licence (preferred).
* NVQ L3 or L4 in Children and Young Peoples Workforce (preferred or willingness to work towards).
