About the Role As a Firmware Engineer, you’ll be involved across the full product lifecycle—from initial concept through design, delivery, and ongoing support. You'll work with high-performance FPGAs (primarily Altera), developing code in VHDL and contributing to the complete design of secure, high-bandwidth appliances. This is a hands-on role, ideal for engineers who thrive in technically demanding environments and are eager to solve complex challenges that matter. You will collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team that includes experts in embedded software, power distribution, thermal management, and PCB design. What You’ll Need Strong experience with VHDL development for FPGAs Familiarity with at least one modern FPGA toolchain (e.g., Altera, Xilinx, Achronix ) Experience with high-bandwidth data processing and interfaces (e.g., networking, DRAMs) A solid understanding of secure appliance design Awareness or experience with hardware design principles Strong task planning and communication skills Eligibility Requirements Due to the nature of the projects, you must be a UK national or meet the eligibility requirements for UK security clearance. Regular remote working cannot be offered for this role, but flexible working arrangements are supported.
