Social Worker – Children in Care (CIC) Team

Pay Rate: Up to £36.00 per hour (Umbrella)

Are you an experienced and committed Social Worker with a passion for improving outcomes for children in care? An exciting opportunity has arisen within Northamptonshire Children’s Trust for a skilled practitioner to join their Children in Care (CIC) Team on a long-term locum basis.
About the Role
As part of the Children in Care Team, you will work with looked-after children across Northamptonshire, including those subject to legal proceedings and those with long-term care plans. This is a dynamic and fast-paced environment where your work will directly contribute to achieving stability, safety, and positive futures for children and young people.
The team is committed to building meaningful, lasting relationships with children, their families, and carers, ensuring that every plan is child-focused and outcome-driven.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake clear, evidence-based, and timely assessments
* Develop and progress care plans for children in care
* Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to ensure coordinated support
* Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with children, families, and carers
* Contribute to court work and care proceedings where required
* Partner with Leaving Care Services and external agencies to support transitions and long-term outcomes
About You
* Qualified Social Worker with relevant registration
* Proven experience working with looked-after children (LAC), gained within a LAC team, court team, safeguarding service, or similar children’s services setting
* Strong assessment, planning, and organisational skills
* Ability to thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment
* Confident in multi-agency collaboration and relationship-building
Working Arrangements
This is a hybrid role offering flexibility, with required office attendance at One Angel Square on designated duty days. You will benefit from a supportive team structure while maintaining a healthy balance between office and remote work.
