Are you a skilled HV Protection & Control Design Engineer looking to take the next step—or already leading and ready to make a bigger impact? A well-established and fast-growing provider of high-voltage engineering services is seeking a Protection & Control Design Engineer or Engineering Manager to join their expanding team in Norwich.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on cutting-edge electrical infrastructure projects for clients in utilities, renewables, industrial, and commercial sectors across the UK.
What You'll Be Doing
* Develop detailed protection & control (P&C) designs for HV networks (11kV–400kV)
* Create and review schematics, wiring diagrams, settings, and interface documentation
* Specify and configure protection relays (e.g., Siemens, ABB, GE)
* Conduct fault analysis and protection coordination studies using ETAP, DigSILENT, or similar tools
* Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders (clients, DNOs, ICPs, OEMs)
* Support FAT/SAT, troubleshooting, and commissioning of protection systems
* Ensure compliance with IEC, ENA, BS, and customer-specific standards
* Lead and mentor junior engineers and support design quality across the team
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
* At least 5 years’ experience in HV protection and control design (11kV–400kV)
* Excellent knowledge of UK Grid Codes and protection schemes
* Skilled in CAD tools and system design software
* Familiarity with relay configuration tools (e.g., DIGSI, PCM600, Agile)
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site visits
Desirable:
* Chartered Engineer status (or actively working toward it)
* Experience with renewables, BESS, or transmission-level projects
* Understanding of DNO/NGET design documentation and approval processes
