We are looking for two clinical psychologists to join our thriving paediatric service at St Georges Hospital. These exciting posts will provide a clinical psychology service across a range of specialties. One post will support the gastroenterology and general outpatient teams and the other will work within our critical care cluster. St Georges Hospital is one of Londons largest childrens hospitals, with one of only four paediatric trauma units in London. It also hosts the only paediatric intensive care unit in South West London. We are one of the top three centres for specialist paediatric surgery in London, and a centre of excellence in foetal medicine. Psychology plays a key role within childrens services; embedded within MDTs to deliver high quality evidence based and family integrated care. The Paediatric Psychological Therapies Team is a large, friendly and expanding service. We consist of clinical psychologists, family therapists, mental health practitioners, assistant psychologists, trainees and administrators. Our service provides psychological support to both inpatient and outpatients, covering a wide range of specialties. Job responsibilities Post holders will ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality clinical psychology services to patients and families within the above services, working closely with specialist paediatric consultants and allied health professionals. This will include evidence-based psychological and developmental assessment, complex formulation, and individual and family-based interventions. They will also be expected to provide recommendations and extensive consultation to professional colleagues and other agencies involved in the childs care, including facilitating staff support and reflective practice. The post holder may supervise assistant psychologists and other more junior staff as agreed with the consultant psychologists for their group. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the flexible delivery of psychology services across the Trust, in response to new developments and organisational changes. Utilisation of research skills for audit, policy and service development and research is encouraged. Person Specification Qualifications Essential • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the BPS. • HCPC registration Desirable • Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology. Experience Essential • Experience of working with children and young people in a clinical setting • Experience of working as part of an multidisciplinary Team • Experience of providing cognitive assessments • Experience of working with other agencies e.g. social care. Desirable • Experience of working in critical care settings • Experience of running groups • Experience of working with end of life issues • Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision Skills Essential • Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS. Desirable • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group (eg with regard to child protection and consent to treatment). Knowledge Essential • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
