We're in the midst of an exciting modernization journey, migrating to cutting-edge infrastructure and transforming how we deliver technology solutions. As a Software Engineer III, you'll be a key contributor to this transformation, working with unique technologies including Smalltalk (yes, really!), alongside modern tools and practices including Python, C, and shell scripting.

2. Own your code from conception to production—write secure, high-quality software and shepherd it through its entire lifecycle
3. Shape our technical architecture by creating design artifacts for complex changes and ensuring development meets our quality standards

5. Be a technical detective—spot hidden problems and patterns before they become issues, driving improvements to code quality and system design

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
8. Strong object-oriented programming skills (we value clean, maintainable code)
9. Applied software engineering experience in a corporate environment
10. Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts
11. Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile practices
12. Hands-on experience with automated testing, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
13. Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git
14. Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code across the full-stack
15. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
16. Smalltalk experience (but if you're a strong OOP developer eager to learn, we'll teach you!)
17. RedHat Linux experience
18. Windows development experience with tools like IntelliJ IDEA
19. API development experience (REST, OpenAPI)
20. Cloud platform knowledge (AWS)
21. Python, Java, or shell scripting skills
22. Familiarity with Jira project management tooling
23. Experience with wiki-based documentation systems like Confluence
