Our Projects Division delivers high-value multi-discipline ground engineering schemes across the UK and Ireland. We offer a range of geotechnical solutions, as well as civil engineering, marine, and tunnelling works. We have the flexibility to act as a principal contractor, joint venture partner, or specialist subcontractor.
Reporting to the Projects Division Estimating Manager, we are seeking an estimator with experience in pricing and presenting geotechnical engineering solutions (e.g., diaphragm wall construction, piling works, grouting works) to clients. The candidate should be interested in collaborative pricing works with clients, joint venture partners, and supply chains to overcome complex civil engineering challenges.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The role encompasses all aspects of the preconstruction work-winning phase, including:
1. Assisting with managing incoming enquiries, assessing, and prioritising tender opportunities.
2. Developing bid/win strategies tailored to client needs.
3. Collaborating with technical, operations, and supply chain teams to prepare cost studies for governance review.
4. Liaising with teams to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies during preconstruction.
5. Writing and presenting tender offers to clients.
6. Engaging in client interactions and negotiations from enquiry receipt to contract award and project handover.
7. Maintaining and updating the Salesforce CRM database.
8. Assisting the Business Development Manager in identifying future clients and project opportunities benefiting from our division's expertise.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
1. A relevant civil engineering degree, preferably with a geotechnical bias, and professional qualification status.
2. Ability to act with integrity and uphold the company's reputation.
3. Awareness of health and safety, well-being, environmental, and sustainability matters.
4. Significant experience in the UK geotechnical industry.
5. Understanding of the geotechnical design process.
6. Experience in estimating geotechnical engineering solutions.
7. Knowledge of our company's capabilities.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
9. Ability to work well individually and in a team.
10. Effective time management skills.
11. High accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
12. Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Salesforce; knowledge of Primavera P6 and Candy is a plus.
13. Willingness to develop professionally and support others' development.
14. Full UK driving licence.
