Ysgol Y Ddraig is at the heart of the Llantwit Learning Community, adjacent to Llantwit Major School, close to the Welsh-medium primary Ysgol Gymraeg Dewi Sant, and not far from the beautiful coastline. Formed in 2015, the school moved into its brand-new buildings in 2016. The site has ample green space and excellent facilities for indoor and outdoor activities. With close community links, Ysgol Y Ddraig has established itself as an essential part of our historic town.

About the role
The Governing Body is seeking to appoint an exceptionally able and motivated individual who can bring their own personal experience and skills to build on the high standards achieved and to continue to improve our happy and successful school.

About you
We are looking for a Deputy Headteacher who will:
Bring a wealth of experience as an outstanding classroom practitioner across a range of age groups.
Have strong ethics, emotional intelligence, and resilience.
Demonstrate balanced judgement.
Have the wellbeing of children and staff as central to all developments and actions.
Share in our belief that education is a partnership between children, staff and parents/families.
Inspire and empower staff and children to achieve their full potential
Show excellent senior leadership skills, with strong evidence of strategic thinking and planning.
Bring creativity and innovation to support the future development and direction of the school.
Be able to lead and manage change effectively, and support others through change.
Demonstrate an excellent understanding of Curriculum for Wales and a vision for how this can successfully be embedded throughout Ysgol Y Ddraig.
Continue our strong collaborative relationships with the local authority, other schools and partners.
Bring flexibility, a positive attitude and a sense of humour.
