Responsibilities
* Safety & Health: Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for the safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities. Ensure safety in design and alignment with risk management principles.
* Leadership and Management: Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to deliver a holistic maintenance strategy for Woodsmith and ensure it is reflected in the Functional Requirements for feasibility, design phases; support site construction teams and contractors to drive improved reliability and longevity of shaft sinking and tunnel equipment; demonstrate SHE leadership in engagements and incorporate SHE considerations into design and delivery of work.
* General: Develop Woodsmith Maintenance strategy and integrate it into feasibility, design, and operability considerations; manage scope, quality, cost and schedule for EPCM and SME engineering delivery; coordinate with Woodsmith Study & Operations teams and Anglo American Group Technical functions to incorporate maintainability in designs; work with engineering partners to deliver/approve designs to meet project schedule and requirements; develop detailed maintenance plans, resourcing and budgets as part of Operational Readiness; collaborate with Owners team project managers and EPCM to resolve technical challenges during design, execution and commissioning; ensure maintenance strategy is incorporated in engineering design and field construction activities.
* People & Teams: Create a purpose-led, high-performing culture; build the future maintenance function/team for Woodsmith operations; mentor and advise site engineering teams and contractors on maintenance and reliability practices to improve equipment availability and tunneling progress.
Qualifications
* An undergraduate qualification (Bachelor/Honours or equivalent).
* Registered with a recognized engineering institute as a professional/chartered engineer.
* Proven track record with extensive experience in large, complex underground mining projects is preferred; other heavy industrial settings will be considered.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
* Extensive knowledge of international standards and asset strategy and reliability best practices in a heavy industrial environment.
* Experience in a senior leadership role within a technical environment, including coordinating knowledge sharing across disciplines.
* Track record of applying business acumen to achieve risk-based, fit-for-purpose outcomes.
* Ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate effectively; experience or awareness of underground mining, tunnelling and/or shaft sinking.
* Ability to lead technical discussions, adapt to varying situations, and represent the project’s and stakeholders’ best interests.
* Cross-cultural collaboration and ability to work with diverse teams; respect for the needs and feelings of others; hands-on approach capable of working under pressure and prioritising workload to meet project needs.
