Role Purpose
The Wediko New Hampshire Congregate Residential Counselor plays a key role in creating a transformational treatment experience for young persons. Working within an interdisciplinary team and under the supervision of Wediko Masters-level clinicians, Residential Counselors impact the lives of the youth served.
Key Responsibilities
1. Behavioral management of students according to their Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs), utilizing tools like behavioral checklists.
2. Providing regular individual supervision to children.
3. Developing and implementing recreational activities on and off campus.
4. Facilitating daily group therapy sessions with students.
5. Delivering therapeutic experiences aligned with each child's ITP.
6. Managing crises and reporting critical incidents involving Wediko School students.
7. Ensuring daily physical and psychological safety of children.
8. Balancing limit setting, giving directions, and nurturing in an age-appropriate manner.
9. Monitoring and caring for students' basic needs daily.
10. Communicating issues related to students and the setting with the Lead Staff, Clinical Supervisor, and Program Coordinators.
11. Transporting or supervising transportation between activities, Wediko, home, local districts, or appointments as needed.
12. Completing medication management and administration training, and assisting with medication administration as directed.
13. Maintaining documentation such as daily logs, behavior tracking, incident reports, progress summaries, food requests, and supplies requests.
14. Participating in the daily operations of the Wediko campus.
Qualifications
* At least 2 years' experience in a similar setting with children/adolescents, or seven years of parenting experience.
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Strong communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Successful completion of CPI training and Medication Administration Training while employed.
* Preferred: a driving record that permits transporting students in Wediko vehicles.
Impact Corps Program
Residential Counselors may enroll in The Impact Corps, a fellowship designed to develop skills in counseling, education, clinical roles, and leadership while serving vulnerable children and young adults. Physical Requirements
The position involves walking on rugged terrain, outdoor activities, and physical tasks such as bending, holding, and lifting, in accordance with CPI behavioral management techniques.
