University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust are seeking a highly motivated Midwife to join our welcoming, supportive, and friendly Enhanced Support Midwifery team in the Barrow in Furness area.
You will manage, develop, and lead care for pregnant and new mothers with vulnerabilities, maintaining high standards of care for women and their families. The post holder will act as a referral point and provide specialist support to optimise maternal and fetal outcomes.
You will collaborate with a multi-agency and multi-disciplinary team from midwifery, health, and social care to deliver and coordinate the highest standards of care for women and families with complex social issues.
Responsibilities include supporting colleagues through care coordination, providing training and guidance in safeguarding, and enabling holistic care that addresses vulnerabilities and physical health.

Key duties:
1. Support an established specialist enhanced support team daily, caring for women and families with complex social issues.
2. Participate in daily safety huddles and duty responsibilities as rostered.
3. Possess a sound knowledge of working with families facing complex social issues.
Our services operate across three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal. We also serve community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI offer comprehensive hospital services, including Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various specialist services. WGH provides general hospital services along with an Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life-threatening conditions.
All sites offer planned care, outpatient services, diagnostics, therapies, and surgical procedures, alongside local outreach services across Morecambe Bay.
