Role summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Stockport Youth Justice & Complex Safeguarding Service for two Youth Justice Social Workers. These are both permanent positions. The service aims to prevent offending and reoffending using a child-first approach, with a team of staff and a focus on family and community involvement.
Your role
You will work as part of a multi-agency service, including the police, probation and health colleagues, to prevent and reduce offending by children and young people, providing services as required by the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and other relevant legislation. Posts involve work with parents/carers and victims. The service is guided by the Youth Justice Board principle of “child first” with a focus on best interests, participation, desistance, and reducing stigma. All work is in collaboration with children and families and uses prevention, diversion and evidence-based interventions.

You will build on children's strengths to foster a pro-social identity and sustainable desistance from crime. All work is child-centred, constructive and future-focused, based on supportive relationships that empower children to fulfil their potential.
