Senior Planner
Location - Hull
Based full time on site
Salary up to £75,000
37.5 hours standard
OT will be required and will be paid at flat rate
Living away allowance if not local £355.67 per week
The Opportunity We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join a major industrial project based in Hull. This is a site-based role requiring full-time presence and a strong background in planning, cost control, and project delivery within engineering, construction, or industrial settings.
The Role The successful candidate will take responsibility for delivering robust planning and project control functions across all phases of the project lifecycle. This includes schedule management, cost tracking, resource analysis, and supporting the overall commercial and project management teams.
Your Responsibilities and Duties
Develop and maintain effective project control strategies, plans, and procedures.
Produce and manage integrated project schedules, including resource loading and critical path analysis.
Collaborate closely with commercial and project management teams to ensure delivery to scope, time, and budget.
Establish and maintain systems for cost monitoring, control, and reporting.
Support integration and optimisation of project programmes and resource planning.
Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks and identify opportunities.
Oversee the performance and compliance of key contracts and contribute to monthly board reporting.
Maintain up-to-date reporting systems and project closure documentation.
Define and implement rules of credit and structured naming conventions in planning systems.
Review and approve cost and planning documentation for monthly project boards.
Lead project control meetings and ensure robust updates to risk registers and value analysis processes.
Manage integration of programme inputs from various stakeholders and contractors.
Implement and manage systems for progress tracking and productivity measurement.
Define project work breakdown structures and formats for estimating and reporting.
Monitor project expenditure and manage changes in accordance with control procedures.You will have the following qualifications and experience
Extensive experience (8+ years) in project controls or planning roles within large engineering or construction projects.
Proficiency in Primavera P6 is essential.
Strong understanding of cost management systems and project controls.
Knowledge and experience with ERP systems, SAP, estimating tools, and Power BI.
Degree-qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or similar discipline.
Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., ACostE, CEng, IEng) is desirable.
