Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an HGV Mechanic to join our team, reporting to the Fleet Manager. You will work on our fleet of HGV commercial vehicles and carry out routine preventive maintenance.
Role Responsibilities
* Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HGV lorries and trailers to ensure optimal performance and safety.
* Attend emergency breakdowns of vehicles and carry out defect repairs.
* MOT preparation, brake testing, and remedial repairs as required.
* Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work conducted on vehicles.
* Work closely with the fleet team to minimise vehicle downtime and ensure efficient fleet management.
* Manage the inventory of parts and materials, ensuring timely availability for repairs and maintenance.
Health and Safety
* Carry out risk assessments before commencing work on lorries and trailers. Ensure compliance with method statements and risk assessments as required.
* Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
Ideal Candidate
* NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
* Excellent problem-solving skills.
* Experience of working on commercial vehicles.
* Valid UK Licence.
* Class 1 (C+E) licence is desirable.
* Hydraulics and pneumatics experience is desirable.
* Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and fault finding.
