We are looking to strengthen our Engineering team with a Senior Design Manager based at our Falmer office near Brighton with hybrid working available.
You will report directly to the Head of Engineering and your role will lead projects through their design phases for a portfolio of projects. To ensure cost-effective, technically compliant, and buildable solutions are delivered in line with all stakeholder requirements, as well as in line with programme expectations and in accordance with the project delivery process and engineering design procedures.
Key responsibilities:
* Be committed to excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) in design, complying fully with relevant local specifications, codes, rules, regulations and requirements and all relevant H&S legislation.
* Ensure that H&S hazards are identified and managed and that all residual risks are communicated effectively to all stakeholders.
* Lead the Design team in delivering their responsibilities and ensure a focused approach to meet customer requirements and project objectives.
* Be accountable for expenditure, drive efficiency, and manage overall outturn costs for design by producing deliverables within allocated resources and key deadlines.
* Organize all elements of design, document them in the Design Management Plan, and prepare monthly status update reports as necessary.
* Attend and contribute to all relevant programme, project, and technical meetings.
* Ensure that the technical solution outperforms on costs while maintaining quality standards and timely delivery.
* Provide technical support during construction, assembly, and commissioning stages when required.
* Ensure all technical work complies with standards and specifications, following proper systems of work and quality assurance.
* Contribute to sustainability targets, especially by reducing embodied and operational Carbon Footprints of solutions.
* Communicate and collaborate effectively with partners and disciplines, utilizing shared knowledge and adding your own expertise.
* Recognize and provide exceptional customer service internally and externally, including with the client, their customers, and the public.
* Represent the entire MWH business and RSK Group in all client contacts, promoting the companies' reputation.
* Maintain a positive, solution-oriented approach, providing honest and constructive feedback.
* Undertake other duties, training, or hours as reasonably required, consistent with the role's responsibilities.
* Present a professional and positive image of MWH Treatment in all contacts, fostering positive relationships.
* Ensure confidentiality in all internal and external communications.
