Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III NICU night shift position in Washington, DC, requiring a DC RN license and at least three years of recent NICU experience.
Responsibilities Work in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Care for neonates from 23 weeks gestation up to 4 months old
Typical conditions treated include extreme prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, hypoglycemia, congenital anomalies, seizures, and meconium aspiration syndrome
Perform advanced NICU procedures including ventilation management, use of oscillators, pressors, and care of micro preemies
Provide services such as nasal CPAP, mechanical ventilation, high frequency oscillation, and nitric oxide therapy
Assist with bedside procedures including IV insertion, septic workups, intubations, and percutaneous catheter insertions
12-hour night shifts, 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, three shifts per week
Respond to neonatal emergencies, provide immediate assessment and care for newborns, and attend all C-sections and high-risk deliveries
Most diagnostic services are performed at bedside
Provide parent teaching as part of discharge preparation
References from two managers or supervisors verifying recent experience preferred
First-time travelers are eligible for consideration
Requirements Active and unencumbered DC RN license required at time of consideration
Three years or more of NICU experience required
AHA BLS, NRP, STABLE certifications required
CPI certification mandated by position
At least two years of recent hospital-based experience in NICU in the United States
Must reside at least 25 miles from the facility
U.S. Social Security Number required
