We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and proactive Family Engagement Worker to join a specialist school in Uxbridge, a short walk from Hillingdon hospital supporting pupils with complex and severe learning difficulties. This is a rewarding opportunity to play an important role in strengthening relationships between home and school, promoting pupil wellbeing and attendance, and helping families access appropriate support services. Key responsibilities Develop positive, respectful relationships with parents and carers. Support families to understand and engage with EHCPs and individual support plans. Promote good attendance and work sensitively with families where attendance is a concern. Work collaboratively with a multi-agency team, including therapists, safeguarding staff, and external professionals. Organise and support parent forums, workshops, and informal family-support opportunities. Promote inclusive communication and ensure the parent voice is valued. Person specification Experience working with families, ideally within education or a SEND environment. Understanding of the challenges faced by families of children with complex needs. Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust while maintaining professional boundaries. Knowledge of safeguarding principles and family-support practices. Well organised, flexible, and able to use initiative in a developing role.
