Role purpose
Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Building Surveyor for the Northamptonshire area to join their growing business. This role is central to delivering high-quality surveying services, including assessing damages following vehicular impact, auditing works, and costing remedial works. You will liaise with contractors, clients and internal teams to ensure works are accurately scoped, costed and delivered to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out site visits to assess damages, quality of works and audit requests.
* Produce clear, detailed reports outlining damages, indemnity considerations and recommendations.
* Prepare precise scopes of work and accurate cost estimates, including provisional material sourcing.
* Liaise with contractors to obtain costings, arrange joint site visits and agree programmes of works.
* Draft specifications and work programmes for repair and reinstatement projects.
* Identify and communicate environmental, health & safety or structural concerns, recommending emergency make-safe works where required.
* Maintain high standards of organisation, file handling and system record-keeping.
* Ensure updates to clients/parties at agreed intervals and within SLA/KPI requirements.
* Provide administrative and cross-team support where responsibilities overlap.
Required Skills & Experience
Qualifications: Degree/HNC/HND in Building Surveying, Construction, or a related discipline. CIOB accreditation is preferred but not essential if you can demonstrate strong practical experience.
Experience:
* 2-5 years' experience in building surveying, insurance reinstatement, property damage assessment or a related field.
* Strong technical knowledge of building pathology and repair methods.
* Proven ability to produce detailed written reports and scopes of work.
Skills:
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects, contractors and deadlines simultaneously.
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site locations as required.
