We are looking for someone with strong business knowledge, who wants to be on the trade-floor as much as possible facing off to the Trading Desk, and is capable of speaking to both Trading and developers in a pressured environment.
To be successful as a Rates eTrading System Engineer, you should have experience with:
1. Strong eTrading Business knowledge and expertise (preferably Rates, but other asset classes also acceptable).
2. Confident communication skills with the ability to face off to both Front Office Trading and technical developers.
3. Strong Unix skills.
4. Experience managing and helping prioritize a book of work to remediate issues and enhance the product.
5. Experience using and implementing monitoring and observability solutions, ideally including tools like Elastic, Geneos ITRS and Grafana.
6. Aptitude to understand relevant technologies and investigate logs to identify production issues.

Purpose of the role: To apply software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response, to ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology.
Accountabilities:
1. Availability, performance, and scalability of systems and services through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning.
2. Resolution, analysis, and response to system outages and disruptions, and implement measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
3. Development of tools and scripts to automate operational processes, reducing manual workload, increasing efficiency, and improving system resilience.
4. Monitoring and optimisation of system performance and resource usage, identifying and addressing bottlenecks, and implementing best practices for performance tuning.
5. Collaboration with development teams to integrate best practices for reliability, scalability, and performance into the software development lifecycle.
6. Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
