JobPurposeInvestigator UnderthesupervisionofthePrincipalTradingStandardsOfficer(SpecialInvestigations)tocarryoutsignificantinvestigationenforcementactivitiesacrossNewportandbeyondtoreducetheimpactofroguetradingbydecreasingconsumerdetrimentandensuringthattheeffectsofsuchactivities,intermsofhealthandwellbeing,arediminished,particularlyinrelationtothosemembersofsocietywhoaremostvulnerableandatrisk. KeyResultsAreasInvestigator Toundertake,whereappropriate,investigations,eitheronanindividualbasisorasateammember,intoidentifiedbreachesofpotentialbreachesofrelevantregulatoryserviceslegislationandensuresuchinvestigationsarecarriedoutwiththeutmostvigourandmeetthehigheststandardsaslaidoutbystatute,codesofpracticeandbestpractice. Topreparereportsforconsiderationoflegalproceedingsonsuchcontraventionsandtoattendcourtandgiveevidenceasrequired. ToexerciseenforcementpowersinrelationtoregulatoryserviceslegislationandothercriminallegalisationsuchastheProceedsofCrimeAct2002,theRegulationofInvestigatoryPowersAct2000,thePoliceandCriminalEvidenceAct1984andtheCriminalProcedureandInvestigationsAct1996. Tointerviewsuspects(includinginterviewingatpolicestationspriortocharging)utilisingthelatestbestpracticetechniquestothehigheststandards. ToliaiseconstantlywithotherEnforcementAgencies,GovernmentDepartmentsandProfessionalBodiesandattendmeetingsasarepresentativeoftheTeamandtheteamleadersacrossRegulatoryServiceswithrelevantpartners;suchpartnerswillincludeScambustersTeams;GwentPolice;theGovernmentAgenciesIntelligenceNetwork;UKBorderForce,HMRevenueandCustomsandothers. ToensurethatallcaseworkandintelligenceiscorrectlyrecordedanddisseminatedinaccordancewiththeNationalIntelligenceModel. Toundertakeaprogrammeofcomprehensive,preventativeactivitiesandstrategiesencompassingallrelevantregulatoryserviceslegislation. Tomonitornewandunregulatedtrendsintradingactivitiesthatmaynotbecoveredbyexistinglegislationandidentifyareasofbusinessfraudandmalpracticeandtoinvestigateandreportsuchmatters. Tocarryoutallappropriateadministrativefunctionsandrespondtoallmattersincludingcorrespondenceinaccordancewithcouncilpolicies;toincludetheuseofinformationtechnology. 9. Totakereasonablecareofownandotherssafety;toco-operatewithManagers/Supervisorsincomplyingwithstatutoryhealthandsafetyduties;toreportincidents,accidents,faultsetc. QualificationsandExperienceInvestigator PossessarelevantqualificationinanappropriatelawenforcementfieldtoaminimumofNHDlevelandtohavegainedsignificantexperienceinpracticingandmanagingwithinanareaoflawenforcementinvolvingdeceitanddishonesty.
