We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic, dynamic, committed individuals to join our energetic and vibrant Theatre team.

As with all theatre environments, each day with us has its own demands as we have a variety of theatre activity on any given day so we are looking for individuals who have a flexible approach to work, are innovative and highly motivated with great people skills who want to learn and develop within a challenging and exciting area of patient care. Continuing professional development is encouraged and you will be expected to promote and participate actively in education, research, clinical governance, audit and guidelines. You will be encouraged to take part in the wide range of educational and training opportunities within the health board.

If you are a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner, with current UK professional registration relevant for the post then we’d love to hear from you. We would welcome applicants with Theatre experience or for those looking for a new challenge. Applicants who do not have previous theatre experience will undergo a full training and support programme to fully equip our staff with the skills they require.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have a base hospital and can expect to work across any of the four hospital sites when requested. The post holder is required to work as part of a team to assess, develop, implement and evaluate pre, peri and post operative patient care on a daily basis. Working closely with all disciplines without direct supervision on achieving KSF outline to ensure the effective running of the department out of hours within set guidelines in the absence of the Lead Nurse/ODP.
• Provide technical/specialist assistance requiring a high degree of dexterity, precision, accuracy and prolonged concentration to patients and medical staff. The post holder organises own workload/area and may supervise work of others on achievement of KSF outline within a team.
• Participate in supervision, teaching and/or mentorship to assist with the integration of staff within the department.
• Adhere to the NMC or HPC code of professional conduct and standards of practice (2002).
• Participate in flexible working patterns, including Night Duty and On-calls when required. To work in any area of the Theatre Services Department and any other department requiring skilled theatre practitioners when necessary.
