<div><h3>Job Overview</h3><p>University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity for experienced Band 6 or 7 respiratory Physiotherapists to join our specialist adult primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) team. The role involves delivering person‑centred care to adults with PCD and developing leadership, research and clinical skills.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver person‑centred care to adults with PCD across the southwest of England.</li><li>Provide timely PCD diagnostics and physiotherapy for patients once a diagnosis is confirmed.</li><li>Attend adult PCD clinics at UHS, Royal South Hants Hospital, Southampton and regional clinics in Exeter, Bristol, Oxford, Penzance, Gloucester, Plymouth and Windsor.</li><li>Engage in service development including clinical audit and research.</li><li>Supervise undergraduate students and provide specialist advice to colleagues.</li><li>Work with the PCD nursing team to triage phone calls and emails, ensuring service coverage 9am‑5pm.</li><li>Participate in the respiratory on‑call and twilight rota, working across acute wards and home ventilation services.</li></ul><h3>Skills and Experience</h3><ul><li>HCPC registered, experienced Physiotherapist with broad post‑qualification respiratory experience.</li><li>Experience at Band 6/7 level in managing chronic lung disease, demonstrating advanced airway clearance, exercise, pelvic floor health, breathing pattern disorders, NIV and palliative care.</li><li>Proven experience in undertaking respiratory on‑call service shifts, including intensive care.</li><li>Evidence of leadership skills and experience.</li><li>Ability to make decisions using advanced clinical reasoning in demanding situations.</li><li>Car driver for travel between hospital sites and regional clinics, with overnight stays as required.</li></ul><h3>Desirable Skills and Experience</h3><ul><li>Experience in the management of primary ciliary dyskinesia.</li><li>Ability to undertake telephone clinics for remote patient management.</li><li>Experience in screening and recruiting patients for research studies.</li></ul><h3>Person Specification</h3><ul><li>Masters in Physiotherapy or equivalent specialised study.</li><li>Current HCPC registration.</li><li>Significant relevant clinical experience in physiotherapy practice.</li><li>Evidence of proven leadership and supervisory skills.</li><li>Previous experience in a relevant clinical area.</li><li>Experience on‑call as relevant.</li><li>Worked within a multi‑disciplinary team.</li><li>Evidence of continuing professional development.</li><li>Experience of audit, evaluation or research.</li><li>Evidence of implementing change in a clinical environment.</li></ul><h3>Desirable Criteria</h3><ul><li>Management qualification or equivalent experience.</li><li>Attendance at post‑graduation courses or conferences relevant to clinical area.</li><li>Sensible understanding of healthcare priorities and political agendas.</li><li>Experience working in an acute hospital setting.</li><li>Leadership qualification or experience.</li></ul><h3>Trust Values</h3><ul><li>Patients First</li><li>Always Improving</li><li>Working Together</li></ul><h3>Contact</h3><p>If you are interested in this role or other therapy opportunities, please email Annette.Purkis@uhs.nhs.uk.
