Secondary Teaching Assistant – Southampton, Hampshire

GSL Education are seeking enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistants to join mainstream schools across Southampton. This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about education, as well as university students looking to gain professional classroom experience.
As a Secondary Teaching Assistant (Secondary TA), you will play a key role in supporting teachers, working with pupils both individually and in groups, and contributing to a positive and engaging learning environment. With both permanent and ad-hoc contracts available, this role offers flexibility and the chance to develop your career in education.
Responsibilities of a Secondary Teaching Assistant:
* Provide one-to-one and group support to pupils within lessons.
* Assist teachers in delivering engaging and structured learning activities.
* Help maintain focus and positive behaviour in the classroom.
* Adapt to different subjects and support students across key stages.
* Encourage pupil confidence, progress, and independent learning.
Requirements for Secondary TA:
* CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or similar.
* A degree in Education or a similar field.
* A genuine interest in supporting the academic and personal development of students.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to engage effectively with secondary-aged learners.
* Previous experience in schools or childcare settings is desirable.
* A proactive, adaptable, and enthusiastic approach.
* Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS registered on the update service, or willingness to apply.
