Rate of Pay: £19.81 - £25.33 per hour
Summary:
To provide an independent and objective assurance and consulting service to Wrexham County Borough Council, evaluating the effectiveness of the Councils control environment in achieving its objectives.
The Senior Auditor will review, evaluate, and report on the adequacy of internal controls, governance, and risk management arrangements, ensuring the proper, efficient, and effective use of the Councils resources.
The role also involves supervising, mentoring, and supporting Internal Auditors while promoting continuous improvement, compliance with legislation, and adherence to the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards (PSIAS).
Responsibilities:
* Undertake risk-based audits of Council systems, services, and processes to identify control strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
* Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, governance, and risk management arrangements.
* Coordinate, prioritise, and plan the work of Internal Auditors to meet the internal audit plan and assignment deadlines.
* Ensure all internal audit activities comply with the PSIAS, Internal Audits Quality Assurance and Improvement Programme, and the Councils Financial Regulations.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of internal audit methodologies, legislation, and professional standards through Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
Qualifications:
* Part-qualified CIPFA (Diploma level) or equivalent CCAB qualification; or
Holder of one of the following professional qualifications: AAT, IIA, or QICA.
Experience:
* Proven experience as an Auditor within the public sector, ideally in local government.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver the internal audit plan and investigations to planned timescales.
* Competence in using ICT systems, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
* Experience of working to professional quality standards such as PSIAS.
* Evidence of building strong working relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
* Car driver with the ability to travel as required.
