Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and customer-oriented individual to join our team as a Stores/Dispatch Operative. In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient handling of goods within our warehouse, with a strong emphasis on quality control, inspection, and ensuring accurate packing and dispatch of orders.
You will provide comprehensive support across operations, maintaining high levels of speed, accuracy, confidentiality, and customer service throughout the entire process—from goods receiving to order packing, dispatch, and store management. This role demands a detail-oriented individual who can collaborate effectively to uphold operational standards.
Responsibilities:
* Verify deliveries against purchase orders, inspect for quality and damage, log items accurately on inventory systems, and address any discrepancies to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
* Pick, inspect, and securely pack items as per order specifications, ensuring all required documentation, such as packing lists and labels, are accurate and accompanies the order.
* Communicate with delivery companies to ensure timely and accurate delivery or service completion.
* Monitor dispatch operations to ensure efficient utilisation of resources, identify bottlenecks, and propose improvements to dispatch operations.
* Organise, monitor, and store stock efficiently to avoid overstocking or shortages while upholding health, safety, and cleanliness protocols within storage areas.
* Maintain accurate records of stock using our inventory management systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Previous experience in warehouse operations, with a focus on quality control or inspection.
* Keen attention to detail to identify defects, inconsistencies, or discrepancies in goods or documentation.
* Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
* Excellent organisational and multitasking skills to manage simultaneous operations effectively.
* Ability to lift and handle goods safely, adhering to manual handling guidelines.
* Forklift license or willingness to obtain one (preferred).
* Proficiency with inventory management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders.
Work Environment
The role involves working in a warehouse environment, which may include varying temperatures depending on storage conditions. Physical activity, including standing, lifting, and bending, is a regular part of the job. Flexibility to work occasional overtime may be required during peak periods.
