We are seeking a passionate and skilled Design and Technology Teacher to join our dynamic team and inspire the next generation of designers, engineers, and makers.
The RoleAs a Design and Technology Teacher, you will deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially KS5), fostering a love for design, engineering, and practical craft skills. You will be responsible for planning and delivering a broad curriculum that includes:
1. Product Design
2. Resistant Materials
3. Graphics
4. CAD/CAM
5. Engineering principles
6. Textiles (optional)
7. Food Technology (optional)
Key Responsibilities
8. Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
9. Develop students’ practical skills, creativity, and technical knowledge.
10. Use a range of tools, machinery, and digital technologies safely and effectively.
11. Assess, record, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
12. Maintain a safe, well-organised, and inspiring workshop environment.
13. Contribute to curriculum development and extracurricular activities.
14. Collaborate with colleagues to promote cross-curricular learning and innovation.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
15. A recognised teaching qualification (, PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
16. A degree in Design and Technology, Product Design, Engineering, or a related field.
17. Proven experience teaching D&T at secondary level (KS3 and KS4 essential; KS5 desirable).
18. Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks.
19. Proficiency in CAD software (, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, 2D Design) and CAM equipment (, laser cutters, 3D printers).
20. Excellent classroom management andmunication skills.
21. Amitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable Attributes
22. Experience with A-Level or BTEC Engineering/Design courses.
23. Ability to teach across multiple D&T disciplines.
24. First Aid or Health & Safety qualifications (, CLEAPSS training).
25. A creative, innovative, and reflective approach to teaching and learning.
