Offer description

The newly integrated Community Vaccination Service is seeking an experienced Nurse and team player to deliver the school-age vaccination programme alongside Covid vaccinations for housebound patients and care homes.

Vaccinations are the safest and most effective way to protect individuals and communities from vaccine-preventable diseases. Working within the Community Vaccination Service allows you to support and promote the importance of vaccines, demonstrating a passion for protecting this age group and offering support across the Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Immunisation Nurse to support the management of the Community Vaccination Service (CVS). The CVS team, part of the Integrated Vaccination Service, provides all school-age children in Dorset with immunisations according to the UK Health Security Agency schedule. The service also administers Covid vaccines to the housebound and care home residents of Dorset.

You will support the management of a team of nurses and administrators, ensuring clinics and sessions are staffed appropriately and safely. The role is based across Dorset, with a primary base at the Linden Unit in Weymouth.

This is a part-time post of 22.5 hours per week, term-time only. The post requires flexible working to meet the service needs.

Responsibilities include:

1. Administering vaccines in schools, community clinics, care homes, and patient homes.
2. Collecting vaccines and equipment from vaccine bases.
3. Triage of consent forms.
4. Providing expert knowledge to service users.
5. Community engagement.

This employment requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover. Applicants registered with the DBS update service can present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.

Note: Applications from candidates requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are ineligible.
