We are looking for a Housing Solutions Assistant to join our Housing Solutions team. If you share our values and are motivated to make a difference for our residents, clients, and communities, we would love to hear from you.
About the role
In this role, you will:
* Be the first point of contact for people who approach the council for housing help.
* Assess their situation, give basic housing advice and ensure each case is passed to the right officer.
* Handle financial tasks linked to homelessness, including making agreed payments. Keep accurate records, update the homelessness system and maintain a good understanding of housing law, welfare benefits, and the local private rented market.
* Work closely with colleagues across the council and with external partners such as social care, probation, and housing providers.
You may also be asked to support the council’s emergency response arrangements when required.
About you
We are looking for someone with a good understanding of housing and welfare issues, strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of people. You must be able to manage a busy and varied workload, work independently, and respond calmly to challenging situations. Demonstrate fairness, empathy, and professionalism, maintain accurate records and work well with colleagues and partners to deliver a high‑quality service.
