We are seeking a result-driven professional to serve as the critical liaison between Ethiopian Airlines, handling companies, and General Sales Agents across our UK network. This pivotal role focuses on driving cargo growth through increased tonnage and chargeable weight while maintaining exceptional customer service standards. The successful candidate will ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements including HSE, CAA, HMRC/Border Force, and IATA standards, while implementing and monitoring adherence to all Ethiopian Airlines policies and procedures across UK stations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in our operational excellence and continued growth in the UK market. Key deliverables include increased cargo volumes across all Ethiopian Airlines operated stations, maintained Service Level Agreements, seamless communication with Ground Handling Agents and General Sales Agents, serving as a professional and dedicated direct point of contact for the airline and its customers, and providing 24/7 managerial level coverage. This position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in our operational excellence and continued growth in the UK market. Key Responsibilities Operational Communication & Coordination: Maintain continuous communication with airline operations and management, conduct monthly performance meetings with GHAs and GSAs, and attend operational meetings as required. Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Prepare and distribute statistical reports per flight to airport managers, head office, and handling parties; conduct monthly audits across all UK stations. Flight Documentation & Compliance: Monitor correct completion of import/export documentation in accordance with SLAs, airline briefs, and GOM procedures within prescribed timeframes. Cargo Operations Management: Liaise with warehouse and office leads to maximize export builds, monitor commercially sensitive freight, and oversee coastwise and transhipment movements for timely forwarding. Customer Service & Issue Resolution: Respond to tracers, warehouse searches, and enquiries professionally and promptly; provide requested files and documentation to head office in a timely manner. Stakeholder Management: Serve as primary liaison with GHAs, GSAs, and handling company managers; provide regular briefings and feedback on flight operations. Training & Development: Assist in specific training of cargo agents and warehousemen on airline products and requirements; review and improve workstation layouts and procedures for efficiency. Business Development: Implement effective strategies and processes to optimise the network, maintain overall sales and service control, and expand business in assigned areas. Safety & Standards: Maintain clean, tidy working environments, observe safe working practices, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Flexibility & Additional Duties: Demonstrate flexible working attitude to meet operational needs, travel across the UK as required, and undertake additional duties as assigned by management. The ideal candidate Strong understanding of operational processes and procedures within aviation or logistics environments Excellent numeracy and literacy skills with ability to interpret complex data and produce comprehensive reports Management experience highly desirable, preferably in cargo operations or airline industry Advanced computer skills including proficiency in airline systems, cargo management platforms, and in-house operational software Comprehensive knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and awareness of aviation safety standards Essential Skills Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams and drive operational excellence across multiple locations Coaching: Experience in developing and mentoring staff to achieve performance objectives Strategic Thinking: Capability to implement effective business strategies and optimize network operations Communication/Interpersonal: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to engage stakeholders at all levels People Management: Strong track record in managing diverse teams and maintaining high performance standards Negotiation & Influencing: Skilled in negotiating with external partners and influencing positive outcomes IT Proficiency: Advanced technical skills with ability to adapt to new systems and technologies Motivation: Natural ability to inspire and motivate teams toward achieving common goals Decision Making & Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with ability to make effective decisions under pressure Safety Focus: Commitment to maintaining safety-driven culture and compliance standards Key Behaviours Global Perspective: Non-parochial approach to products and geographical operations with cultural adaptability Confident Assertiveness: Professional confidence in managing stakeholder relationships and operational challenges Flexibility: Adaptable to changing operational requirements and business needs Innovation: Creative approach to process improvement and operational efficiency Achievement Oriented: Results-focused mindset with drive to exceed performance targets Energy & Drive: High levels of motivation and enthusiasm to deliver exceptional service standard
