Business Development Sales Account Manager – Defence
Location: Portsmouth / Hybrid
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 (depending on experience) + Bonus + Benefits
Security Clearance: You must be SC cleared or eligible for SC clearance to apply
Are you a driven and results-oriented sales professional with a passion for the Defence sector? Our client, a leading Defence IT Consultancy based in Portsmouth, is expanding its team and looking for a Business Development Sales Account Manager with experience of a soft sales approach.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in growing the business, developing strong client relationships, and exceeding sales targets. If you have a proven track record in business development, account management, and new business generation within the Defence industry, we want to hear from you!
What You’ll Do:
1. Achieve & Exceed Sales Targets – Consistently meet and surpass revenue goals through strategic account management and proactive business development.
2. Develop Client Relationships – Act as the primary contact for customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and long-term engagement.
3. Grow the Business – Identify and convert new business opportunities, expanding your sales pipeline and fostering strong relationships.
4. Account Management – Maintain and grow existing accounts by providing tailored solutions and excellent customer service.
5. Stay Ahead of Industry Trends – Keep up-to-date with new technologies, products, and market developments in the Defence sector.
6. Collaborate & Communicate – Work closely with internal teams, including sales, marketing, and technical departments, to drive success.
7. Maintain CRM & Reporting – Keep accurate and detailed records of client interactions, ensuring all activities align with business objectives.
Requirements for the role:
* You will be a Veteran with commercial experience preferably gained in the defence and security sector in a business development or an equivalent capacity.
* You will be a relationship and partnership builder with a strategic mindset and a track record that demonstrates this with a softer sales approach - Relationship-first approach - Consultative approach to sales, adept at networking, sourcing leads, building a pipeline and converting into business.
* Ideally, you will have sector and product knowledge in technology around automation, unmanned devices and drones, Training & Simulation, or Combat systems.
* Strong team player
* Target driven and goal orientated
* Self-starter and self-reliant
* Values driven with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
