Technical Advisor – Monitoring and Data Systems Team – 32406
Join the Environment Agency as a Technical Advisor in the Monitoring Data & Systems Team (MDS). The team manages Environmental Monitoring systems and datasets to support Water Quality, Fish, Biology, Ecology, and Water Quantity monitoring. You will work on Water Quality systems and data, and support other systems as required.
Responsibilities
* Set up and manage users for monitoring systems.
* Support users and resolve issues, particularly during transition to the new My Environment application.
* Update, improve, and maintain datasets.
* Respond to internal and external data requests.
* Support system improvement and upgrade projects.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
* Experience working with large complex datasets.
* Willingness to develop new technical skills and apply them across monitoring data and systems.
* Motivated, organised, friendly, with an eye for detail, comfortable in a dispersed team environment.
* Proactive problem‑solver.
* Excellent written and verbal communication; able to convey complex technical information to technical and non‑technical audiences.
* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, deliver through others, and provide excellent customer service.
Desirable:
* Experience with environmental monitoring data systems.
* Experience with PowerBI, Access, Excel, Python, SharePoint Online, and R.
* Working knowledge of water quality monitoring.
Additional Information
Work location is flexible with a base required at one of our England offices. Hybrid home/office working is offered; some travel for meetings is expected.
Interviews will be conducted via MS Teams towards the end of December / beginning of January. An apprenticeship is available for the successful candidate.
